We are talking about how to pray for someone to accomplish the assignments that are given from Jesus.

John 15:16-17 “You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. This I command you, that you love one another."

Jesus chose them. His disciples didn’t choose Jesus. He chose them. The people you pray for can’t just choose themselves. So you pray in agreement with Jesus as He chooses the people He wants to do things for Him. You can also pray and ask that He chooses someone you know.

Jesus appointed them. He decided to give His followers assignments and with that comes authority. The authority given by Jesus includes authority in the spiritual realm. So you pray in agreement with Jesus to appoint those He chooses to accomplish assignments from Jesus. You can also pray and ask that He appoints someone you know to certain assignments.

The devil has no right to interfere with the appointed assignment but he will try. His usual method is to get the appointed person to disobey Jesus. They often times start with getting the person to be afraid of the devil. You should pray as Jesus did when He confronted the devil to stay in His place. Pray that the appointed person remains true to the goal and obeys Jesus. Pray that they ask Jesus for forgiveness when they disobey.

The assignment is to go and produce fruit that lasts. This is not physical fruit. They are not farmers. This is spiritual fruit that has a permanent result. The appointed person gives spiritual water and light to a person so that they become followers of Jesus. They encourage followers of Jesus and strengthen them in the Spirit. The appointed person through the work of the Holy Spirit produces lasting spiritual fruit. Pray they hear the Holy Spirit direct them. Pray they take action by the direction of the Holy Spirit speaking to them, and not on their own effort.

Jesus appoints true followers and fakers. Jesus appoints His disciples and includes Judas. The true followers of Jesus will learn and rely on the Holy Spirit to accomplish the goals given by Jesus. Like Judas, the fakers will not be able to accomplish the assignments on their own. They will hide behind the work of others and take credit as part of the team. They’ll take credit for what the Holy Spirit does. Pray that the fakers truly turn to Jesus as they struggle to accomplish the assignments given to them.

Pray and ask God the Father in Jesus Name. Just adding the phrase “in Jesus Name” to your prayer isn’t all that this means. In Jesus’ name starts with a question. Jesus, what do you want to put Your Name on and what do You want me to pray for specifically? Go to God the Father in prayer and ask Him for that which Jesus wants to put His Name on. Find out from Jesus first what He wants you to pray. Jesus always answers your prayer if it’s already what He wants you to pray.

Jesus commands that you love one another. Jesus actually concludes with the answer for every assignment. You can accomplish what Jesus assigns you if you obey Jesus in the details, but also remember to love one another. Every assignment requires that you love one another. Just because you are assigned doesn’t mean you should be above others. It’s actually the opposite. You sacrifice for them like Jesus does. You are to love them with the love that comes from Jesus.

Prayer coaching: “Jesus, show me what You want me to pray for. (I) am in agreement with You to choose the people You want to do Your work. Choose (my friend) to accomplish Your work. (I) agree with You to appoint those You choose on specific assignments. Appoint (my friend) to be on assignments from You.

In Jesus Name I don’t give the devil permission to leave His place to disrupt (their) assignments. May (they) remain true to Your goals and obey You. May (they) ask You for forgiveness when they disobey.

Open (their) ears to hear the Holy Spirit direct them. May (they) take action by the direction of the Holy Spirit speaking to them, and not on their own effort. Turn the fakers truly to You as they struggle to accomplish the assignments You have given to them.

May (they) ask You what You want to put Your Name on. Show (them) what You want them to pray. May (they) love others with the love that comes from You.”
