We are talking about interceding in prayer for someone who is in a battle to pray effectively in their minds.

Matthew 6:6 "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”

The reward for going into their inner room. The best inner room they have access to is their mind. It is a much better place than their bedroom. Their bedroom is not mobile. They take their mind wherever they go. In fact, their mind is actually where they will dialogue with God even if they are in their bedroom. What reward is there for praying in their mind with God? They will know that the thoughts in their mind are not just their own. There are different sources of thoughts that enter their mind. That is a great reward. From then on they will begin to defend their mind, and evaluate their thoughts to see which are from God and which are theirs and which are from other sources. And of course, the greatest reward is that God will actually talk with them there and meet with them there in secret where only they know He is talking with them.

The reward for closing the door. All rooms can be invaded, even their inner room in their mind. Thoughts from the outside will press in. They are from sources other than God or them. Since Jesus wants them to close the door to the outside influences, He will help them. This process is so powerful! This reward is so great. It’s the beginning of a sound mind. Jesus can strengthen their self control with their thoughts as they fight to meet with Him inside their mind.

The reward for confronting what holds them back. What can blind their mind, is the veil of pride, a stubborn “I know better than anyone” pride. It is also this pride that will hold back forgiveness. Many are in mental institutions because of their pride. They will hear God more clearly and learn to have a sound mind more easily if they humble yourself and forgive those who have wronged them. This is another great reward. As they pursue to hear God in their thoughts, He will begin to set them free from the things that bind them. See 2 Corinthians 4:1-6 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-6.

The reward of direct access to God the Father. They have permission to pray with God the Father directly. It’s just them and God. More than permission, Jesus is commanding them to do it. They can’t obey this command from Jesus to dialogue directly with God by letting someone else pray for them. It has to be them! If Jesus commands them to pray directly with God the Father, there is a promise that God will hear them and dialogue with them directly. If you are wondering why the God who created everything wants to meet with them every day, it is because He loves them and wants a personal relationship with them forever.

The reward of praying with God the Father in secret. What is a secret? They and God are having a private conversation and what is being shared between them is a secret only they share. No one else can know their thoughts inside, only God. Their thoughts are the ones they generate from within themselves. These are different than the dark thoughts the outside world throws at them. What God tells them in their mind and what they tell Him in their mind, is a secret. It’s not a secret for them. God wants to reveal things with only them. Everyone else is left out including humans and angels and spirits and satan. Only God has actual secrets that no one else knows. He knows everybody else’s secrets, and when I say everybody, that includes all beings whether human or spirits. God can choose to reveal to them things that no one else knows. He has a name for them that only He knows. It’s worth stating Revelation 2:17. It says, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.“

In conclusion, this rewards list is amazing so far! I also believe they will receive other rewards from God that go far beyond this list.

Prayer coaching: “Jesus, put the idea in (them) today to talk with God in secret inside their own minds. Speak to (them) today in their minds and bring stability into their thought life.”

“Jesus, put the idea in (them) today to close the door to outside thoughts that enter their minds. Jesus, close the door for (them), so they can hear You clearly.”

“Jesus, put the idea in (them) today to pray to God the Father directly and not be satisfied with others praying for (them). Make (them) not satisfied with only praying publicly. Put a desire in them to seek you directly in their minds.”

“Jesus, put the idea in (them) today to pray to God the Father secretly in their minds. Prove to (them) that they can meet with You in secret. Confront the thoughts in (their) minds that are not from You. Establish the secret place with God the Father in (their) minds.

“Jesus, may (they) hear in their minds God speaking to (them). Give (them) self control and discernment as (they) evaluate the thoughts that (they) hear. Build in (them) a sound mind as a reward for prayer in secret with God the Father.”
