Introduction: We are talking about your inner room where you should pray to God the Father directly. Each of the decisions you make while inside your inner room can bring about great rewards from God the Father.

Matthew 6:6 "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”
The reward for going into your inner room. The best inner room you have access to is your mind. It is a much better place than your bedroom. Your bedroom is not mobile. You take your mind wherever you go. In fact, your mind is actually where you will dialogue with God even if you are in your bedroom. What reward is there for praying in your mind with God? If you didn’t know before, you will know that the thoughts in your mind are not just yours. There are different sources of thoughts that enter your mind. That is a great reward. From now on you will begin to defend your mind, and evaluate your thoughts to see which are from God and which are yours and which are from other sources. And of course, the greatest reward is that God will actually talk with you there and meet with you there in secret where only you know He is talking with you.
The reward for closing the door. All rooms can be invaded, even your inner room in your mind. Thoughts from the outside will press in. They are from sources other than God or you. Remember that when I speak of God I include God the Father, God the Son who is Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit. Since Jesus wants you to close the door to the outside influences, He will help you. This process is so powerful! This reward is so great. It’s the beginning of a sound mind. Jesus can strengthen your self control with your thoughts as you fight to meet with Him inside your mind.
The reward for confronting what holds you back. What can blind your mind, is the veil of pride, a stubborn “I know better than anyone” pride. It is also this pride that will hold back forgiveness. Many are in mental institutions because of their pride. You will hear God more clearly and learn to have a sound mind more easily if you humble yourself and forgive those who have wronged you. This is another great reward. As you pursue to hear God in your thoughts, He will begin to set you free from the things that bind you. See 2 Corinthians 4:1-6 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-6.
The reward of direct access to God the Father. You have permission to pray with God the Father directly. It’s just you and God. More than permission, Jesus is commanding you to do it. You can’t obey this command from Jesus to dialogue directly with God by letting someone else pray for you. It has to be you! If Jesus commands you to pray directly with God the Father, there is a promise that God will hear you and dialogue with you directly. If you are wondering why the God who created everything wants to meet with you every day, it is because He loves you and wants a personal relationship with you forever.
The reward of praying with God the Father in secret. What is a secret? You and God are having a private conversation and what is being shared between you is a secret only you two share. No one else can know your thoughts inside, only God. Your thoughts are the ones you generate from within yourself. These are different than the dark thoughts the outside world throws at you. What God tells you in your mind and what you tell Him in your mind, is a secret. It’s not a secret for you. God wants to reveal things with only you. Everyone else is left out including humans and angels and spirits and satan. Only God has actual secrets that no one else knows. He knows everybody else’s secrets, and when I say everybody, that includes all beings whether human or spirits. God can choose to reveal to you things that no one else knows. He has a name for you that only He knows. It’s worth stating Revelation 2:17. It says, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it.“
In conclusion, this rewards list is amazing so far! I also believe you will receive other rewards from God that go far beyond this list.
Prayer coaching: “Jesus, thank You for meeting with me in secret in my mind. Shut the door on my distractions. Thank you for permission to talk with You. Thank you for hearing me. Help me to hear You respond as I pray. Give me discernment to know which thoughts are from You and which thoughts are not from You. May You see and hear me in secret and reward me as I pray directly to You, God.”
