Isaiah 29:8 “It will be as when a hungry man dreams—And behold, he is eating; But when he awakens, his hunger is not satisfied, Or as when a thirsty man dreams—And behold, he is drinking, But when he awakens, behold, he is faint And his thirst is not quenched. Thus the multitude of all the nations will be Who wage war against Mount Zion."

Isaiah 29:9-10 “Be delayed and wait, Blind yourselves and be blind; They become drunk, but not with wine, They stagger, but not with strong drink. For the LORD has poured over you a spirit of deep sleep, He has shut your eyes, the prophets; And He has covered your heads, the seers.”

You are hungry and dream that you are eating. You are thirsty and dream that you are drinking. In your mind is where dreams happen and it’s where a silent war happens between you and God. You go to an event and sing about His presence. You hear someone talk about Him. Outwardly everything can appear like you are in pursuit of Jesus. All the while there might be an ongoing war of thoughts in your mind. Can you tell when God is trying to talk to you in your mind?

Jesus said to the woman at the well that the water He gives will remove your thirst forever. Secretly you know something is wrong, when you feel hungry and thirsty in your mind and heart. The meetings you have participated in, the songs you have sung, and the good deeds you have accomplished aren’t really what remove hunger and thirst. God overcomes any dark thoughts when you surrender them to Him. But, what happens if you choose to contemplate the shadowy gray areas, and ignore the thoughts from God? This contemplation is part of the dream. Are you convincing yourself you can live in the shadows of your own desires, and perform a godly life in public?

If you are living in a dream, God declares over you several things. He declares these things because His desire is to know you personally and to set your mind free from the shadows.

First, God declared, “Be delayed and wait.” You are bound by God in a waiting period. It is a delay you cannot escape. If He didn’t do this you would be satisfied with your dream world. When you surrender your fight to avoid Jesus in your private thought life, ask Him to remove the declaration of delay and waiting. It will be a sign to you that you are healed, when there is no longer any delay in your personal relationship with Jesus.

Second, God declared, “Blind yourself and be blind.” God gives you over to your choice to be blind. You know that your private thought life doesn’t match your public life. You have blinded yourself. On the outside everyone thinks you know Jesus intimately and personally, but on the inside you are distant from Him. You are avoiding Him. When you surrender your fight to avoid Jesus in your private thought life, ask Him to remove this declaration of blindness. It will be a sign to you that you are healed, when you can see clearly in your thought life which thoughts are from Jesus.

Third, God declared, “You have become drunk and stumble without alcohol.” You are stumbling in your personal thought life, as you allow the world to influence your thinking. You think mostly about what you want and what you desire. When these thoughts consume your mind, this is where you stumble and fall. It’s like being drunk. You give in and take action. Guilt follows you. Negative labels are placed on you in your mind that you can’t remove on your own. In order to keep your dream going you deny the negative labels and pursue with greater effort the public displays of your love for Jesus. Yet, all the while you are still avoiding Jesus in your thought life. When you surrender your fight to avoid Jesus in your private thought life, ask Him to remove this declaration of drunkenness. It will be a sign to you that you are healed, when your thought life with Jesus overcomes the thoughts for worldly selfish desires.

Fourth, God declared, “I have poured over you a spirit of deep sleep, and shut your eyes.” Now you are blind spiritually. No matter how hard you try, you cannot truly see what God is doing. Are you seen publicly as someone who sees and knows God and knows what He is doing? Do you have a gift of prophecy, or a title in the church? How will you teach the word of God if you can’t see? You will indeed, stumble in your blindness. You will stand on your past public glory and prior wisdom, but will still stumble in the dark. You won’t be able to hide your private war to avoid Jesus inside your thought life. When you surrender your fight to avoid Jesus in your private thought life, ask Him to remove this declaration of spiritual blindness. It will be a sign to you that you are healed, when your thought life with Jesus overcomes the spiritual blindness.

Fifth, God declared, “I have covered your head.” Your authority is covered. Your head represents the authority to control the rest of the body. There are three bodies. Your own body. Marriage is called a body. The church is called a body. You will not be able to control your own body. You will not be able to direct your marriage. You will not be able to direct the church body. You will not be able to walk in authority without stumbling. When you surrender your fight to avoid Jesus in your private thought life, ask Him to remove this restriction of authority over your head. It will be a sign to you that you are healed, when your thought life with Jesus overcomes your lack of control over your own body. It will be a sign to you that you are healed, when like a slave you submit to Jesus in your thought life. It will be a sign to you that you are healed, when Jesus directs you to serve His followers without stumbling.

Prayer coaching: “Jesus, I have fought against standing in Your presence in my mind. It’s like I have waged a silent war to avoid You inside. Without You, I am hungry and not satisfied and faint from weakness. Jesus, It seems like I am always delayed and always waiting. I have blinded myself and I cannot see. It’s like I am drunk and fall. God, You have shut my eyes as if I am in a deep sleep and I can’t see ahead. I don’t know where you are taking me. I live only for today. My head is covered and I can’t really see You no matter where I go or what I do. Please uncover my eyes to see where You want to take me.

Jesus, I surrender my fight to avoid You in my private thought life.

Please, remove the declaration of delay and waiting. Give me a sign that I am healed, when there is no longer any delay in our personal relationship.

Please, remove this declaration of blindness. Give me a sign that I am healed, when I can see You clearly in my thought life.

Please, remove this declaration of drunkenness. Give me a sign that I am healed, when my thought life with You overcomes the thoughts for worldly selfish desires.

Please, remove this declaration of spiritual blindness. Give me a sign that I am healed, when my thought life with You overcomes spiritual blindness. Show me where you are taking me. Show me the future.

Please, remove this restriction of authority over my head. Give me a sign that I am healed, when my thought life with You overcomes the lack of control over my own body. As a sign I am healed, make me Your slave as I submit to You in my thought life. Make me serve Your followers without stumbling.”
