We are talking about interceding for others with the prayer fast that God chooses and answers every time.

Isaiah 58:6 "Is this not the fast which I choose, To loosen the bonds of wickedness, To undo the bands of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free And break every yoke?”

There are fasts that they choose. When they decide on their own to fast for whatever reason, they can be hopeful that something might happen, but there is no guarantee.

This is the fast God chooses. If God says today He wants them to fast, they can expect God is about to do something. There is a guarantee that God’s words will go out and accomplish what He wants. It will succeed. Isaiah 55:11 says, “So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

They should fast to loosen the bonds of evil. This is immediate relief. It’s not complete freedom from evil yet, but initially there is relief. Things get a bit easier, but the bonds are still there. Jesus is on the move, so they should be encouraged for more. His goal is break off all slavery to sin.

They should fast to remove the bonds that hold the burdens on them. This comes next. The straps that bind burdens onto them are removed. Freedom from sin is at their door.

They should fast to be free from oppression. The burden falls off. The oppression is lifted. The war is on. Will the oppression return? Is this a temporary moment of freedom or is it permanent? God’s goal is permanent removal of slavery to sin.

They should fast to break every burden. The burden is broken and has lost its strength. Just like a piece of wood put on an animal pulling a cart, when the wood is broken it becomes useless. It can’t hold the animal anymore. When others try to put the weight back on them and try to say they aren’t free, they defend themselves and God defends them. The enemy throws thoughts at them to return them to bondage, but the truth is there from the Holy Spirit and they defend themselves with the truth. The weight is more easily cast off. Each time the battle returns it gets easier to cast off the burden of sin, and quickly they see that the sin no longer holds them.

Prayer coaching: “Jesus, do you want (me) to fast today on their behalf? Make it clear to (me) that you want me to fast for them. Show (me) how You want me to fast for them. Give (them) relief and freedom from oppression. Accomplish Your desire to give (them) relief and loosen the grip of evil. Let (them) go free and break off all bonds of slavery to evil.”
