Is your heart troubled? The Holy Spirit will encourage you from the inside, and Jesus will not leave you.

John 14:16-17 “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

Because you believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives inside you forever. Don’t be troubled. Forever is a really long time. Your body will give out and die, but you will continue on with the Holy Spirit living inside you forever. Even after you have entered the presence of God in heaven or wherever God is, the Holy Spirit will still be inside you. The Holy Spirit who lives inside you will not ever be rejected by God the Father, and you will always be allowed to enter God the Father’s presence with the Holy Spirit living inside you. Don’t be troubled. God the Holy Spirit will speak in your thoughts and you will know Him and recognize that He is working in your life. He won’t be silent. He will help you. Ask Him for help.

John 14:18-20 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.”

Jesus won’t leave you or abandon you. Jesus is talking to His disciples at that time in the first century. He is about to be put to death on a cross, and then rise from the dead. The disciples know He is leaving, but don’t understand that He will rise from the dead and appear to them again. A few days later Jesus rose from the dead, and came to His disciples as He had promised in these verses. They saw Him again for a short while, and the world would no longer see Him walking on the earth. But they were different after He rose from the dead. They knew without doubt Jesus is God, and that He was living inside them. Don’t be troubled. All those who follow Jesus will not be left or abandoned. Just like those disciples who were witnesses, Jesus comes to you and lives inside you. You know that Jesus is God.

John 14:21-23 "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him. Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, "Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.

God will live inside anyone who loves Jesus. Don’t be troubled. The disciples wondered if what Jesus was saying was just for them or for the entire world. Jesus responds with the word “anyone”. Everyone is given the offer, but the offer requires a response that has two conditions. The conditions are that you love Jesus and keep His words. The reward for loving Jesus and keeping His words is that God the Father and Jesus will live inside you forever. Don’t be troubled and don’t be afraid. The God who created all things lives inside you if you love Him. What is there to be afraid of?

John 14:24-26 "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me. These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

Jesus speaks the words from God the Father. Don’t be deceived. Jesus’ words are from God the Father who sent Him to earth. Those who don’t keep Jesus’ words are also rejecting God the Father’s words. Those who reject Jesus’ words don’t love Jesus.

God the Holy Spirit will teach you. Don’t be troubled. The Holy Spirit will teach you all the things that God wants you to know. The disciples testified about what Jesus said, because the Holy Spirit helped them remember. Their letters were inspired by the Holy Spirit. You learn from their letters about Jesus, and those letters were influenced by God the Holy Spirit. You also learn directly from the Holy Spirit who also reminds you what Jesus has whispered in your thoughts and in your dreams and visions. You test those thoughts and dreams to make sure they are from Jesus by comparing them to what has been revealed about Jesus before and written down by eyewitnesses and collected in the Bible. What has been revealed before by Jesus is the foundation we stand on. God will not contradict Himself.

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.“

Jesus declares peace is given to you. What kind of peace is this? It’s not the world’s version of peace where you all get along or leave each other alone. This is a supernatural presence of stability inside you no matter what turmoil is all around you. It’s Jesus inside you. Psalm 23 is a good example. You are surrounded by darkness, but you sit in the light at a banquet table with Jesus and eat good things together. Don’t be afraid. Jesus is your peace inside you. Why are you troubled? You can’t give away Jesus who is your internal peace, but you can ignore Him. You can focus on the trouble of this world and be weighed down by it. Keep your focus on Jesus and you won’t be troubled or afraid. There are also times when Jesus will give you stability even when you are ignoring Him and even when you are weighed down by the troubles of this world. It’s probably His mercy and His love for you.

Prayer coaching: “Jesus, may God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit be in (me) forever; and may (I) be secure and remember always that You live inside me. Help (me) always to love You, and keep Your word and be loved by You LORD. Holy Spirit teach (me) all the things You want me to know, and remind (me) of what You have shown me that I have forgotten. Put (my) focus on Your presence and peace inside me. Give (me) the strength to obey You and not accept the trouble or fear of this world.
