We are talking about not competing with Jesus as your master and teacher.

Matthew 10:24-25a “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master…”

Matthew 23:8 "But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers.

Matthew 28:20 “…teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Don’t compete with Jesus as the Master. Be like Jesus. We compete with Jesus if we teach our own “stuff”. If we add teaching that Jesus did not teach, we are competing with Jesus as Teacher. We are competing with Jesus as the Master if we rule over others. We should pursue to be like Jesus, but not exalt ourselves above Him.

Don’t be called teacher. Jesus is our Teacher. We are all brothers. It is a command from Jesus that we should teach others to obey His commands. We are just passing on what we have received from Jesus. He is the Teacher and we are just sharing what He says. We are all brothers. Jesus doesn’t place one follower as ruler over another. We all have the title of brother in His family. We all follow Jesus and have direct access to Jesus.

Prayer coaching: “Jesus, I accept that I am not above You. Help me to be accurate and only teach Your truth, and help me not to rule over anyone. I accept You as the only Ruler. Help me to teach my family to be like You. Jesus, Give me wisdom to teach what You want me to teach. Help me to not act in a way that I am above You.”
