We are talking about how real love takes action to overcome evil.

Romans 12:13-15 “contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”

Contribute to their needs. Practice Hospitality. It’s personal. You can’t contribute from a distance. It’s meaningful. A “need” is something that can hold someone back from relief or freedom from a burden. Helping lift someone’s burden can help overcome evil.

Bless your persecutors. Don’t curse them. Don’t be like the rest of the world who are unable to love an enemy. Revenge doesn’t overcome evil. Because of Jesus you can bless your enemies, and an act of kindness for someone who doesn’t deserve it can help overcome evil.

Rejoice. Weep. It’s emotional. You can’t fake genuine love. Genuine emotional expression at the right time can help overcome evil.

Prayer coaching: “Jesus, help me contribute to others need, and be hospitable. Jesus, give me the strength to bless those who persecute me, and not curse them. Jesus, give me the strength to take action and express genuine emotion, to rejoice in what is good, and to weep when You want me to weep.”
