verse 5b

Matthew 6:5b “…Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.”

So,  If your motive is to be noticed when you pray in public, then you’ll be noticed.  That will be the only reward you’ll receive.  However, Jesus says there are rewards given to those who actually talk with God the Father, directly and with the right motive.  These rewards are worth pursuing, and some of them will be explained in the next verse.
