verse 14-15

Matthew 6:14-15  “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.”

If you don’t forgive, you are taking what Jesus did on the cross and throwing it away. If you deny someone the forgiveness that Jesus wants them to receive, you throw your own forgiveness away too.

Jesus explains this in Matthew 18 in a parable. God required that the unmerciful servant repay the debt for his own sin, for showing no mercy to others. Jesus warned that God the Father would do the same to you if each of you doesn’t forgive your brother from your heart.

Prayer coaching.   Jesus, help me to give mercy, in the same way you have shown me mercy.  Jesus, put in me the strength to forgive anyone no matter what the offense.
