We are talking about how we confront God and complain about Him not noticing our fasting and prayers, but we don’t want to hear His answer to our complaints. He does answer our complaints.

Isaiah 58:3 "Why have we fasted and You do not see? Why have we humbled ourselves and You do not notice?' Behold, on the day of your fast you find your desire, And drive hard all your workers.”

Nothing changed. You humbled yourselves. You fasted and prayed. You say God didn’t notice because nothing changed.

Why didn’t anything change? When you fast, you seek your own desire. You fast the way you want to fast. You pray the way you want to pray. Your own desires win out over what God wants for you. At the same time you fast you oppress others. Fast and pray the way God tells you, and things will change.

Prayer coaching: “Jesus, Help (me) fast and pray the way You want (me) to fast and pray. Help (me) sacrifice my own desires and not pray and fast my own way. Forgive (me) if I have been a hypocrite and oppressed others at the same time I am trying to fast and pray.”
