verse 15

James 5:15  “and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.”

Faith is defined in Romans 10:17 and Hebrews 11:1. Jesus speaks, you hear Him and decide to believe Him.

Without Jesus speaking and someone hearing, then there is nothing specific to believe in.  He can reveal His plan to anyone.  If Jesus reveals His plan to heal, then pray exactly what was heard.

If the result is healing, the person will also be forgiven of any sin.  Physical healing is always temporary and forgiveness of sins is permanent.

If no one hears anything from Jesus and there is no healing, then it’s safe to say that there was no basis for a prayer of faith.
