James 5:16b-17  “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.  Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.”

An effective prayer is when Jesus speaks and you hear Him and decide to believe what He said.

Elijah is no different than you. He just simply heard God speak to him in his thoughts and he obeyed.  Anyone in the kingdom of God who loves, and follows Jesus, can also hear thoughts from God in their minds.

In 1Kings 17:1, God told Elijah to tell the king that He would stop the rain. Elijah believed it was God who spoke and that belief is faith.

He earnestly prayed and waited with assurance for God to keep His word.  Elijah’s prayers were answered, because God had already told Elijah He would stop the rain.
