Story: Ileana gets answers more than anyone I know

This is a personal story about my wife, Ileana.

I don’t know anyone who God answers more than my wife.  I asked her to explain why Jesus answers her so much.  She told me she tries to only pray for what Jesus wants, and asks Him every day to show her what to pray.

What are her qualifications?  She loves Jesus and believes He is God, and wants to only pray for what He wants.  I’m sure there are many out there who God is answering more than my wife, but I’m not sure if I’ve met them yet.

Is my wife at a higher status than you?  No.  She is very much like you.  Out of difficulty and suffering, she learned to pray to Jesus.  She was born and raised in Costa Rica.  Her dad worked full time at a shoe factory for $300 dollars a month.

When I met Ileana it was November 20th, 1993.  She was 26 years old and working as an assistant to the manager of a German equipment company.  She made a very modest income.

With her income added to the family total, they were able to buy a refrigerator.  Without a refrigerator, they were used to going to the corner store to buy just what they needed for the day.

They continued that habit even after they had purchased the refrigerator.  I think a lot more ice cream was being purchased —  especially  orange pineapple sherbet to be exact!

Ileana and her sister Hannia were always clean and nicely dressed.  I soon realized a pattern. Ileana was wearing her sister’s clothes.  Then I noticed the next day Hannia was wearing Ileana’s clothes. They would even mix and match depending on who had a meeting or important gathering.

Ileana and I were already engaged and I was trying not to upset their clothing system, but I really wanted to buy clothes for her.  In the end it was not an easy task.  We went shopping for a dress, and it took a long time to find one Ileana liked.  She prayed for everything.

I’m telling you this story from my point of view. It’s better that she tells her story, but I wanted you to at least see that her and her family are normal people. They aren’t perfect, and yet God answers them all the time.

Did you notice that Jesus didn’t make them wealthy, but He answers them all the time. I haven’t told you yet what prayers God is answering all the time. Those are stories for another time.
