verse 4

James 4:4 “You adulteresses,  do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God?  Therefore,  whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”

Mental battles don’t go away if you are living a double minded life with Jesus.  It’s like you’ve had an affair with another person, and aren’t committed to only love God.

In order to defend your thoughts to pursue an affair with the world, you will act out against God. You’ll  be hostile toward Him.

So, the game is on.  On the outside you play the loyal friend of God,  and on the inside there is only confusion and hostility as you fight to get your own way.
