Isaiah 58:2b "As a nation that has done righteousness, And has not forsaken the ordinance of their God.”
So, do you do good deeds publicly, but conveniently ignore God in your decision making every day? If you don’t include Jesus in each decision, then it’s easy for you to decide for yourself.
You’re the master of your own life, when you want to be. We all do this, by the way. In order to be effective in prayer, we all need to surrender, And, include Him in each decision.
If you ignore the directions and convictions from the Holy Spirit, you’ll remain distant from God.
