John 5:5-6 A man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, "Do you wish to get well?"
So, 38 years is a long time. This man was beyond despair, after all that time waiting. Maybe he thought he deserved to be overlooked, and knew his sins deserved such a fate.
Was there anyone who had waited at the pool longer than him? Everyone probably knew who he was after all that time. Everyone knew the man wanted to be well, but Jesus knew his condition on the inside. Jesus was there to offer more than just a physical healing.
So, Jesus knows you want to be well too. Before you have finished listening to all of chapter five, something in you might be made well too.
