John 5
John 5:33-35 "You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth. But the testimony which I receive is not from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. He was the lamp that was burning and was shining and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.”
The people went to John the Baptist, and he also testified the truth that Jesus is God. But, Jesus clarified that God doesn’t need any human testimony. The evidence from God alone is enough.
The only reason Jesus mentioned John’s testimony was so that the people would be saved. Many in the audience believed that John the Baptist was a great prophet from God. Indeed, John was assigned to testify of the coming of the Messiah.
