John 5
John 5:7-8 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up, pick up your pallet, and walk.“
Well, the man didn’t answer with a yes. He just shared his difficulty. The man had tried over and over on his own, but he needed someone to help him. It's possible that maybe, he had hoped that Jesus would help him into the pool.
It's interesting that Jesus didn’t offer any counsel or comfort or empathy. He offered mercy, when He spoke the words that instantly healed the man. I like hearing these simple words. Get up, pick up your mat and walk.
